Background/Problem Statement
Truly.Fun recognized the need to revolutionize the betting industry, plagued by intermediaries like third-party payment gateways, limited betting options, and a lack of trust and transparency. To accomplish this, they wanted to create a Web3 betting platform that would allow users to participate in peer-to-peer (P2P) bets on any topic, without relying on any intermediaries or centralized authorities. They aimed to provide a seamless and engaging user experience, as well as a fair and transparent system that would reward users for their participation. Essentially, they aspired to create a platform that would allow users to engage in betting securely and directly with others, from anywhere in the world.
Process
We started by conducting extensive research on the existing web2 and web3 betting platforms, as well as the user needs and preferences. We identified the key features and functionalities that would make Truly Fun stand out from the competition, such as:
P2P Worldwide Betting:
Users can securely create and join P2P bets on any topic, such as live sports, events, cryptocurrencies, and more, using smart contracts. Users can also choose their own arbitrators, who are responsible for resolving any disputes or verifying the outcomes of the bets.
Social Networking Features:
Users can engage in personal messaging, create posts, and interact with other users on the platform. Users can also follow their favorite topics, users, or arbitrators, and get notified of any updates or opportunities.
Yield Generation:
Users can earn extra income by locking their funds in the platform’s smart contracts. The platform generates yields for the locked funds and distributes them among the users, arbitrators, and Truly.Fun.
We then designed and developed the web2 and web3 versions of the platform, using React Native for the front end, React PWF for the progressive web app development, and Solidity for the smart contracts. We used Web3.js and MetaMask to enable web3 functionalities such as connecting to the Ethereum blockchain, signing transactions, and interacting with smart contracts. We followed an agile methodology, with frequent iterations and feedback sessions with the client and the potential users.
